Since the LED display screen is driven by duty cycle, the brightness of the LED display has a great relationship with the lighting time cycle. Therefore, outdoor display screens are generally static screens, and indoor display screens are mostly scanning screens. However, many outdoor LED display screens now also have scanning screens. This is because after the LED material technology matures, the brightness of the LED light-emitting tube is bright enough, and people use outdoor scanning screens to save costs. However, outdoor scanning screens have high requirements for control and drive parts, and also have certain requirements for driver chips.

The difference between static and scanning drive of LED display screens Static display drive: Static drive is also called DC drive. Static drive means that each segment code of each digital tube is driven by an I/O port of a single-chip microcomputer. The advantages of static drive are high display brightness and simple programming. The disadvantage is that it occupies more I/O ports. Therefore, in actual application, *drivers must be added for driving, which increases the complexity of the hardware circuit.

Dynamic display drive: The dynamic display interface of digital tubes is one of the most widely used display methods in single-chip microcomputers. Dynamic drive is to connect the same-named ends of the 8 display strokes "a, b, c, d, e, f, g, dp" of all digital tubes together, and add a bit selection control circuit to the common pole COM of each digital tube. The bit selection is controlled by each independent I/O line. When the single-chip microcomputer outputs the glyph code, all digital tubes receive the same glyph code, but which digital tube will display the glyph depends on the control of the single-chip microcomputer on the bit selection COM terminal circuit. Therefore, we only need to turn on the selection control of the digital tube that needs to be displayed, and the bit will display the glyph, and the digital tube that is not selected will not light up.
