Although electrostatic discharge (ESD) is not dangerous to the human body, it is very easy to cause fatal damage to semiconductor products such as LED displays.

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) hazards
 
  • ESD(electrostatic discharge) often occurs in LED display production, transportation, installation and other processes in any link, due to the non-standard operation of the product is electrostatic breakdown, resulting in sudden damage and potential damage to LED display products.
 
  • Sudden damage reduces product yield and increases enterprise cost. Sudden damage refers to: the voltage between two or more pins of the LED product components exceeds the breakdown strength of the component medium, resulting in serious damage to the components and loss of function. This kind of damage can usually be found in the quality testing during the production process and will not directly affect the use of customers, but if the manufacturer is subjected to static electricity for a long time, it will increase the production cost.
 
  • The potential damage affects the service life of the product and causes losses to the customer. Potential damage accounts for a higher proportion of electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage, reaching more than 90%, and because of the electrostatic pulse energy caused by local heating of the lamp or IC, the breakdown of the lamp and the fault of the IC can not be found in the detection. However, the product becomes unstable, and the phenomenon of dead lights successively appears in the subsequent use of customers, which greatly affects the service life of the LED display and causes losses to customers.

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) prevention
 
  • To minimize the harm of static electricity to LED displays, manufacturers, distributors and customers need to strictly implement ESD20.20 standards during production, transportation and use. In the production of static electricity directly through the wire connection to the ground, which is the most direct and effective anti-static measures.
 
  • Electrostatic prevention at the production end: training of electrostatic knowledge and related techniques for personnel using electrostatic sensitive circuits.
 
  • In the production process, workers are required to wear a grounded electrostatic bracelet. Especially in the foot cutting, plug-in, debugging and post-welding processes, and do a good job of monitoring, quality personnel must do at least every two hours electrostatic test bracelet, make a test record.
 
  • When welding, the electric soldering iron should be as much as possible to use anti-static low-voltage constant temperature soldering iron, and maintain good grounding. In the assembly process, as far as possible, use a low-voltage DC electric driver with a ground wire (commonly known as the electric batch). Ensure the effective grounding of the drawing table, glue filling table, aging frame, etc. The production environment is required to be grounded with copper wires, such as the floor, wall, and ceiling used in some cases, should use anti-static materials. During daily operation, LED display products should always be stored in anti-static bags or containers.
 
  • Electrostatic prevention at the transport end: when transporting, the transport vehicle is kept grounded, and the box or other equipment is equipped with conductive wheels or drag connections. When contacting LED products, maintain the correct method of taking, do not directly touch the PCB board and the electronic components on it.
 
  • Electrostatic prevention on the client: When installing the screen body, customers and engineers must strictly follow the ESD operation and do not directly touch the core electronic components of the product without protection measures. When installing the steel structure of the screen body, do an effective grounding, and introduce the static electricity of the screen body to the ground.
